Sassafras Tea Festival
Civil War reenactments will swirl around tea-sippers April 24 and 25, 2010, in Jennings County, Indiana. If you like authentic sassafras tea along with a hearty dose of the Blue and the Gray, don’t miss this festival. Oh, did I mention that there’s a bake sale with hundreds of homemade pies? If that isn’t enough to get a Road Trips Foodie heading out the door on a road trip, I don’t know what is! Well, yeah, they’re selling sassafras tea and roots and more food (enough for a meal), but…pies! Nobody does ’em better than Hoosier housewives.
This down-home event is sponsored annually by the Jennings County Historical Society, 134 East Brown Street, Vernon, Indiana. (Vernon’s about halfway between Louisville, Kentucky, and Indianapolis, Indiana, just south of US 50 and East of I-65.)
