Absinthe: The Green Fairy Returns

Submitted by on December 3, 2009 – 2:58 pmNo Comment

la_absinthe Nouvelle-Orléans is the Absinthe of the Month for December at the Absinthe Museum of America, 823 Rue Royale, French Quarter, New Orleans, Louisiana. Nouvelle-Orléans Absinthe Supérieure, one of the famous Jade Liqueurs absinthes, is the creation of absinthe expert, Ted Breaux (a native New Orleanian), and is a traditional green Absinthe Verte produced in Saumur, France. Its flavor is derived from a full compliment of Grande Wormwood (Artemisia absinthium), and additional select European botanicals traditionally used in crafting a genuine Belle Époque absinthe.

In honor of Nouvelle-Orléans, the museum is hosting a Green Hour every Friday in December 2009 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Special guest on December 18, 2009, is Master Distiller and absinthe historian Ted Breaux himself. He’ll lecture on “everything absinthe” at 2:30 p.m. December 19, 2009. Founded by New Orleanians, Cary René Bonnecaze and B. Raymond Bordelon, the Absinthe Museum began with their own private collections.
