Watermelons are the fruit of summer — and summer’s rapidly coming to a close. Road Trip Foodies wandering in the northern tier of states as the season ends might want to stop in at the 63rd Annual Kellogg Watermelon Festival in Kellogg, Minnesota. It’s set for September 11, 12, 13, 2009. Keep in mind there’s free watermelon on offer after the 2 p.m. Grand Parade on Sunday (September 13). The parade usually has more than 100 units (lineup starts at 11 a.m.), and a good time is had by all. Information on the whole metro area of Wabasha-Kellogg is here.
