Wine & Spirits Historical Museum
Ever wondered how they make vodka from potatoes? Here’s the place to find out. The Wine & Spirits Historical Museum in Stockholm, Sweden, located in a former wine warehouse, explains and demonstrates wine and spirits equipment from Sweden — and the rest of the world. Operated by the Swedish Wine & Spirits Corporation, it includes a reproduction of an early 1900s wine shop, two different distilling devices for spiced brännvin (caraway flavor is the best known), a home still (moonshine wasn’t an American invention!) and an exploration of Swedish punsch, a blend of arrack and rum. Specially-arranged historical tours include tastings of historic drinks. Audio guides in English are available free of charge.
