Sweet Corn Stars at Foodie Fests this Weekend

Corn on the CobSweet Corn Days are today (August 1, 2019) through Sunday (August 4, 2019) in Estherville, Iowa. A bonfire of last year’s cobs opens the fest at 5:30 p.m. today. Following Saturday’s 10:30 a.m. parade, more than 6,000 ears of corn will be handed out on First Avenue North, Estherville.

The 56th annual Corn Festival opens today (August 1, 2019) and runs through Sunday (August 4, 2019) in Eden, New York. Visitors can buy sweet corn to eat beginning at 5 p.m. today at the Eden Fire Department. There’s a corn husking contest at 1 p.m. Saturday, and a corn eating contest at 2:30 p.m. Saturday. Corn bread and corn chowder will be judged at 4 p.m. Saturday.

A Sweet Corn Festival is today (August 1, 2019) through Saturday (August 3, 2019) in Wirth Park, Oakland City, Indiana. A second reason to make a stop in Indiana’s Gibson County this weekend? The Watermelon Festival covers the same days on Library Square in nearby Owensville, Indiana.

The Corn Festival in La Habra, California, starts tomorrow (August 2, 2019) and goes through Sunday (August 4, 2019). It’s sponsored by the La Habra Host Lions Club and takes place in El Centro /Lions Park. A Corn Festival Parade starts at 9 a.m. Saturday (August 3, 2019), marching west to east down La Habra Boulevard between Idaho and Cypress streets.

Potatoes are added to corn at the 18h annual PoCo Fest. The Potato & Corn Festival takes place tomorrow (August 2, 2019), and runs through Sunday (August 4, 2019) in Augur Field, Route 22, North Branford, Connecticut.

The PoCo Beer & Wine Garden, featuring local craft beer and wine, will be held Sunday (August 4, 2019). $25 tickets are available for either 11 to 12:30 p.m. or 1:30 to 3 p.m.

The Sweet Corn Festival is just one day: Saturday (August 3, 2019) in the Montrose County Event Center, Olathe, Colorado. The organizers promise corn eating contests “all day”.
