There’s one in Whatcom County, Washington (think: Bellingham), September 7 and 8, 2019. Hours both days are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Sustainable Connections invites Road Trips Foodies to “eat, drink, tour, relax and taste your way through Northwest Washington’s beautiful farmland, with views of Mount Baker – a culinary adventure awaits”.
Part of the region’s September Eat Local Month, the Farm Tour Weekend is one of the longest running farm tours west of the Cascades.
The 13th annual Whatcom Farm Tour highlights 10-12 diverse family-owned farms and provides educational activities at each of the tour stops. Some farms only open one day, and a small handful open on both. A variety of producers will be featured, including vegetables, beef, eggs & poultry, flowers, dairy, orchards, and a farmhouse brewery. Tour-goers can meet local farmers, learn about growing practices, enjoy hayrides, taste farm veggies and products, meet farm animals, sample wine, and shop for local food.
Along with the farm tour, attendees can enjoy a Farm-to-Pint tasting event at Aslan Brewing Company September 7, featuring hops from local farming organization Growing Veterans, who works to support veterans re-integrating into society by growing fresh food. The Farm Tour Brunch featuring from-scratch comfort food made with produce and goods from farms on the tour is September 8 at Cosmos Bistro in downtown Bellingham.
The self-guided tour is free, but attendees can purchase a $12 Farm Tour VIP Badge to support the Tour and receive coupons and discounts on farm products at every stop. VIP Badges can be purchased on the day of the Farm Tour at any of the stops.
