Maple syrup season arrives Down East next month. One way to check it out? Check into one of the sugar shacks belonging to a member of the Maine Maple Producers Association.
The association sponsors a statewide festival called Maine Maple Sunday, set for March 24, 2019 (it’s always the fourth Sunday in March). The website includes a list of participants and a map.
Most sugarhouses offer free maple syrup samples and demonstrations on how pure Maine maple syrup is made. Many farms offer games, activities, treats, sugarbush tours, and music. (Some also are open to the public the day before.)
