Wine Tasting Dinners in Suffolk, England

Submitted by on September 1, 2017 – 8:29 amNo Comment

Crown at Woodbridge, EnglandHeading across the pond, Road Trips Foodies? The Crown at Woodbridge, The Thoroughfare, Woodbridge, Suffolk, England, has announced a series of wine tasting dinners starting in September.

A collaboration between Head Sommelier, François Belin, and Head Chef, Darran Hazelton, the dinners are a chance to savor some of the bottles and vintages from around the world tucked away in The Crown’s cellar. Each includes a tutored tasting by a wine maker or importer, a welcome drink with canapés and a four-course dinner with matching wines.

You’ll have to hurry to catch the first one. It’s September 8, 2017, featuring a selection of South African wines from Klein Constantia. Prized by leaders and aristocracy throughout the 18th century, Constantia’s Vin de Constance dessert wine was revived in 1986 and will be offered with the pudding (that’s British for “dessert”) at this dinner.

There’s more time to make one of the final two in the series.

The next dinner will be held October 12, 2017, with wines from Les Vignerons de Plaimont Producteurs, a co-operative of vineyards in south-west France stretching from the Pyrenean foothills to the undulating Gascony hillsides.

Champagne is the theme for the last in the series of wine dinners December 14, 2017, in the run up to Christmas. Guests will be able to enjoy vintage and non-vintage sparkling wines from both the Bollinger and Ayala Champagne houses.

Each experience begins at 7 p.m. with the aperitif followed by dinner served at 7:30 p.m. in The Crown’s private dining room with guests seated together at the banquet table.

The September and October dinners are priced at £35 per person, while the December Champagne evening is £50. (Psst — if you’d like to spend the night, bed-and-breakfast for dinner guests is priced from £120 for two sharing a double or twin room.)
