california_losangeles_food&wineIf your compass already points to Los Angeles, California, Road Trips Foodies, you’re in luck. This weekend, Hollywood and haute cuisine collide when rock stars meet rock star chefs at the third annual Los Angeles Food & Wine Festival. It takes place Thursday (August 22, 2013) through Sunday (August 25, 2013).

First up is Giada De Laurentiis, who plays host Thursday alongside a line-up of culinary icons and their unique interpretations of Italian cuisine. Over two hundred wines from around the world will be poured alongside top brews and spirits. This Festa Italiana takes place from 7 to 10 p.m. along Grand Avenue downtown between 1st and 2nd Streets (tickets are $195).

The Power Lunch Series (noon to 2:30 p.m., August 23, 2013; $125) is held in a variety of dining rooms, including Richard Reddington, George Mendes and Benjamin Dayag at L’Ermitage Beverly Hills; Michael Mina and Scott Conant plating at Scarpetta at Montage Beverly Hills; Peter Armellino, Matthew Accarino and Sven Mede at Shutters’ One Pico restaurant, and Hinoki & The Bird featuring dishes from Charles Phan, David Myers & Kuniko Yagi with cocktails crafted to complement the fare by Mixologist Chris Hopkins of The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas.

Then, there’s a cocktail demonstration by Chef Grant Achatz (3:30 to 4:45 p.m., August 24, 2013; $50) along with Beverage Director Charles Joly — not to mention a wine seminar on rosés, beer & bites from Belgium and, well, you’ll just have to wander the website and decide which events you just can’t miss. Of course, tickets are available online.
