northcarolina_charlotte_FOODIf you’re journeying through North Carolina in the coming months, Road Trips Foodies, be sure to schedule a stop for a new exhibit at the Mint Museum Uptown, 500 South Tryon Street Levine Center for the Arts, Charlotte, North Carolina (map).

“F.O.O.D. (Food, Objects, Objectives, Design)” is all about objects involved in preparing, cooking, or presenting food, culled from the permanent collection of the Mint, loans, and new acquisitions.

In four sections — TABLE, KITCHEN, PANTRY, and GARDEN — about 300 objects, both handmade and mass-produced, represent the various stages of putting a meal in front of a hungry diner.

Artist Antoni Miralda of the research center FoodCultura, Barcelona, Spain, is co-curating and designing the installation.

Note: this is the first fully bilingual Mint-organized exhibition, with all text panels and object labels in both English and Spanish.

Opening Saturday (March 2, 2013), it runs through July 7, 2013.
