Family-Friendly High Tea

Submitted by on July 15, 2012 – 9:54 amNo Comment

We’ve all got Great Britain on our minds, what with Queen Elizabeth having recently marked her Diamond Jubilee and the Olympics coming up.

No wonder the demand for an English high tea experience is greater than ever. One place to enjoy this “extra meal” without crossing the pond is the Adorabelle Tea Room, 12051 Third Avenue (map) in Steveston Village (once a separate town, but now part of Richmond, British Columbia, Canada).

Think: scones with cream and jam, finger sandwiches and pastries in plentiful supply – minus the stuffy atmosphere. While the adults chat, sip and savor, the kids will find plenty to keep them occupied and entertained. A dress-up chest containing an assortment of fascinators (those uniquely British headpieces), hats, crowns and tiaras allows little ones to play at princesses and pirates between sips from their own small pot of tea (caffeine-free of course).

But while playtime is on the menu here, that doesn’t mean tea time etiquette has been discarded – Adorabelle requests that cell phones be turned off before entry.
