Submitted by on December 17, 2011 – 12:05 amNo Comment

Considering a trip to Italy to explore its culinary culture? Perillo Tours’ ItalyVacations.com has some new Fly & Drive vacation packages that’ll let Road Trips Foodies explore any of eight regions in Italy: Campania, Lazio, Piedmont, Puglia, Sicily, Tuscany, Umbria and Veneto.

These independent vacations with specially planned itineraries allow guests to choose their starting dates, tour independently by car and enjoy Italy at their own pace. Each itinerary spans six to eight days and includes four-star accommodations at hotels or historical residences, a private car, meals at typical Osterie d’Italia restaurants and guided tastings of Slow Food wines and Presidia products; prices start at $1,290, based on double occupancy.

Or, add independent activities to any Italian jaunt. Some enogastronomical activities include visits to: Alba, the Slow Food Hearth Market; the old wine cellars at Ugo Chiola for a tasting of local wines; the center of Turin for gourmand tasting, and Grinzane Cavour castle, the headquarters of the first Piedmontese Regional Winery.

For details, go online. The direct-to-consumer website allows independent travelers to design and book a custom vacation to Italy, with air arrangements, hotels, villa rentals, car rentals, train tickets, sightseeing, museum passes, themed vacations, cooking classes, wine tastings, language courses, honeymoons and more.
