Belle Chèvre Creamery

Submitted by on December 27, 2011 – 3:56 pmNo Comment

For nearly 20 years Fromagerie Belle Chèvre, 26910 Bethel Road, Elkmont, Alabama, has been hand-crafting French-style goat’s milk cheeses.

The company is purposefully small, and each chèvre is handmade, resulting in an artisan cheese with a mild and distinct taste and texture. (There’s a section on the website with recipes using goat cheese.)

Belle Chèvre has started scheduled tours for small groups. The tours include a guided explanation of how the different varieties of chèvre cheese are made.

Tasia Malakasis, the owner and head cheesemaker, is the author of Tasia’s Table: Cooking with the Artisan Cheesemaker.
