Debra Whiting’s Harvest Celebration

Submitted by on October 4, 2011 – 12:07 amNo Comment

“Debra Whiting’s Harvest Celebration”, a wine and culinary event, takes place from 5 to 8 p.m. October 13, 2011, in the Watkins Glen Community Center, Watkins Glen, New York.

The Watkins Glen Area Chamber of Commerce, which sponsors the event, decided to change the name of the annual from “A Taste of the Finger Lakes” to honor Debra Whiting, the late executive chef and owner of Red Newt Cellars Winery & Bistro. Whiting served on the Chamber’s board of directors from 2008 to 2011 and was the driving force behind the inaugural culinary event last year.

The purpose for the event is to capture the essence of culinary creations and farm fresh produce during the heart of harvest, while showcasing local restaurants, farm markets, wineries, breweries, and other food vendors in the area. Attendees and guests will have the opportunity to see, sample and socialize while enjoying a variety of fabulous Finger Lakes fare: appetizers, main courses, desserts, wines, micro brews, and more.

Ticket prices per person are $40 at the door, Road Trips Foodies.
