Arkansas Bean Fest and Outhouse Race

Dunno what it is about Arkansas, but for 28 years they’ve been staging an annual Bean Fest and Championship Outhouse Race. This year the event is October 28 through 30, 2011, in Mountain View, Arkansas.
Since we’re Road Trips Foodies we’re more interested in the food, eh? That’d be pinto beans and cornbread — down home goodness. And, yes, there’s a bean cook-off contest involving lots of secret spices and a cornbread competition.
The outhouses also are made especially for the event, and teams work all year to perfect their racing technique. (The word “outrageous” comes up often.)
