Field trip! No two words are more exciting to school kids — and to Road Trips Foodies! How about this one: a tour of Morley Candy Makers, 23770 Hall Road (M-59), Clinton Township, Michigan (just off I-94, a bit north of Detroit).

Your journey begins with a video on the story of chocolate, how chocolate is made, and how Morley Candy Makers got its start in Detroit, Michigan. Then you hit a 100-foot-long observation walkway, to watch the creation of luscious treats such as Pecan Torties® and Coconut Clusters. A free sample and a stop in the candy and gift shop (of course) put the finishing touch on your visit.

Morley Candy Makers also offers self-guided and “Stop & Shop” tours Monday through Friday (excluding holidays). Tour times vary with production schedules, so advance reservations are required: call 800:682-2760, ext. 2218, to arrange a visit.
