International Chocolate Festival

Here’s a new destination for Road Trips Foodies who also are chocoholics: Óbidos, Leiria, Portugal.
The International Chocolate Festivaltakes place here each year, when some 200,000 visitors are lured to this small historic town. The dates for 2011 are March 17 to April 3, 2011.
In addition to tastings (duh!) of different kinds of chocolates and desserts and marveling at chocolate sculptures, visitors can sign up for cooking courses and watch as national and international professional chefs and amateur cooks compete for prizes.
A medieval walled town, Óbidos is about 80 km north of Lisbon. For information on visiting, go online.
