Flowers and food intertwine at the traditional Rose Hip Festival in Szarvask?, Heves County, Hungary, set for October 23, 2010. The celebration of culture and gastronomy in Szabadid?park features local food and drink, music, dance, flower displays and children’s activities.

According to Wikipedia, the rose hip (csipkebogyó in Hungarian) is the pomaceous fruit of the rose plant that typically is red-to-orange, but ranges from dark purple to black in some species. Rose hips begin to form in spring, and ripen in late summer through autumn. They’re a great source of Vitamin C.
