Oklahoma Sugar Art Show

Submitted by on September 11, 2010 – 4:51 pmOne Comment

The Oklahoma State Sugar Art Show is difficult to describe, Road Trips Foodies. It takes place during the Tulsa State Fair, held September 30-October 10, 2010, at 4145 East 21st Street, Tulsa, Oklahoma.

An open-to-the-public exhibition is October 2 and 3, 2010 (admission is $10 per person), but there’s also a competition aspect. Anyone (amateur, semi-professional or professional) who does the fancy stuff — wedding cakes and other goodies with “sugar art” are invited to compete (details are, of course, online).

Alan Richardson and Karen Tack, authors of “Hello Cupcake!” and “What’s New, Cupcake?”, will conduct workshops on cupcakery.

There are also celebrity demonstrators. Richard Ruskell, named “One of the Ten Best Pastry Chef’s in America”, will be there (he’s executive pastry chef of Montage in Beverly Hills, California) — that’s his orchid-bedecked cake in the photo. Donald Wressell also will be there. Pastry chef of Guittard Chocolate Company in San Francisco, California, he was named “2005 Pastry Chef of the Year”.
