What Did Native Americans Eat?
Discover what was on the menu for prehistoric Native Americans, Road Trips Foodies! A Native Foods event will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. September 11, 2010, at Toltec Mounds Archeological State Park in Arkansas.
Is it a surprise to learn that Native Americans from long ago ate many of the same foods we today? Join a park interpreter to learn about traditional foods eaten by many Native Americans. And, since it wouldn’t be fair to talk about food without taking a sample, visitors will be able to try a variety of dishes. Food is always better when shared, so please bring your family and friends.
The park is located at 490 Toltec Mounds Road, Scott, Arkansas. A National Historic Landmark, the Toltec Mounds site comprises one of the largest archeological sites in the Lower Mississippi River Valley. Preserved here are the state’s tallest American Indian mounds.
