sc_myrtlebeach_uncorkedThe inaugural Coastal Uncorked Food and Wine Festival will take place May 16 through 23, 2010, in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. All sorts of events are planned, including a “tasting trolley”, a golf tournament complete with tastings along the course and a “food fight gala”. Area restaurants will be offering specials during the festival, of course. The golf event is May 19, 2010, at Pine Lakes Country Club with a 1:30 p.m. shotgun start. Culinary demonstrations range from vegetable carving to Low Country cuisine.

The signature event of Coastal Uncorked is the tasting trolley. Participants will make eleven stops in the resort town from noon to 5 p.m. both May 21 and 22, 2010, where there’ll be wine tastings, beer tastings, spirits tastings, food demonstrations & sampling, and live entertainment. Tickets ($50 for one day, $75 for both days) include wine, beer, spirit tastings, food, live entertainment, and transportation.

Participants will listen to a jazz band beginning at 6 p.m. while sampling wine and food from tasting stations featuring local restaurants. Video screens will clue you in on the competition among six area chefs in the Coastal Uncorked Food Fight. Tickets are $75 per person.

All funds raised during the festival will be used for future events and a portion will be donated to the Horry Georgetown Technical College Culinary School and the Clay Brittain Hospitality Program at Coastal Carolina University.
