Wine and Food Preparation and Pairing
Got a week to spend in Ithaca, New York? Consider attending a Cornell Adult University course tagged “Heavenly Matches and Earthly Delights”. Running from July 19-25, 2009, This CAU workshop pairs Abby Nash’s skills as a restaurateur (before teaching at Cornell’s School of Hotel Administration, he was the proprietor of one of Ithaca’s most popular restaurants) with his talents as a master teacher of wines and wine appreciation. During the week students will enhance both culinary and wine evaluation and selection skills as they taste dry red and white table wines and sparkling, sweet, and fortified wines. With Abby providing instruction and demonstrating food preparation, students will work in teams to prepare a daily multi-course luncheon. Before serving (and enjoying!) each meal, they’ll taste and discuss that day’s wines, the better to evaluate them on their own merits, and then in combination with the dishes prepared. Facilities and materials fee is $175, but don’t forget you have to find a place to stay!
