A Festival of Alsatian Wine
What could be better than sampling the best wines of the Alsace region of France — in Alsace! The wine festival in Wettolsheim’s city center is July 25 and 26, 2009. In addition to the vino, local winegrowers prepare “gastronomic delights” for the visitors. There’s more information here.
In addition, there are free guided tours along the “Grands Crus” vineyards trail organized by the winegrowers’ union of Eguisheim during the summer season. Don’t need a guide? Do-it-yourself — there’s a map and hiking details here. Information boards posted in front of various vineyards describe the seven grape varieties, while others explain the work of the winegrower during the year. The trail is an easy hike, and takes about two hours.
