Vancouver Chef Series Returns to Westcoast Fishing Club
David Hawksworth. Vikram Vij. Dino Renaerts. If you’ve sampled menus at any of their restaurants in Vancouver, British Colombia, you’ve tasted first-hand what has defined each as a member of the province’s culinary elite.

Line up apron to apron with the heavyweights September 6 – 10 during Westcoast Fishing Club’s week in the kitchen! 2009 marks the third season for David Hawksworth & Friends, a Northern BC culinary adventure that blends cooking school skills with rod and reel instruction off the northernmost tip of the Queen Charlotte Islands.
Indoors, would-be chefs learn to filet, flavour and feast west coast-style in a region that’s home to salmon and halibut – all within the comforts of their own cooking station at the Clubhouse. On the menu: Chef Hawksworth, of Vancouver’s Georgia Hotel, will provide the heat necessary to perfect the slice and dice. A master of Indian fusion, Chef Vij will demonstrate how he can dish out the spice, much like you’d find at his popular Vancouver restaurants, Vij’s and Rangoli. Diva at the Met’s Chef Renaerts will also prove equal to the task, showcasing simple skills with plenty of panache.
In addition to intimate cooking classes with each, guests will raise a glass for a tutored taste (complete with local wine experts), paired with each of their own daily creations.
And let’s not forget the adventure to be had beyond the kitchen (think: wildlife viewing, sight- seeing and, of course, fishing). This is, after all, one of the province’s premier fishing resorts, and an ideal setting to angle for the big catch.
