Terrapin Beer Co. Sets 7th Anniversary Celebration
Heading to Georgia? Terrapin Beer Co. Celebrates Seven Years of Brewing Excellence with an Anniversary Bash from 5 to 9 p.m. April 11!
Terrapin Beer Co. will celebrate its seventh anniversary with a party at the brewery in Athens on Saturday, April 11 from 5 – 9 p.m. Planned festivities include: live music by Operation Experimentation, Clarke County Line and Tropical Breeze. Special beer offerings will feature held back kegs of limited edition brews from throughout the last year and a cask ale tent hosted by special guests The Classic City Roller Girls. The men who started Terrapin, Brain “Spike” Buckowski and John Cochran will be on hand as will the rest of the Terrapin team. Special commemorative glasses will mark the occasion for early attendees while supplies last. “We’re inviting everyone who’s helped to make Terrapin what it is today and that includes the people of Athens!” said “Spike”. “Good beer and good people…that’s always been the secret to our success.”
In April 2002 Cochran and Buckowski tapped the first kegs of Terrapin’s signature Rye Pale Ale at the Classic City Brew Fest in Athens, GA. A series of awards, including The Gold Medal at the Great American Beer festival in 2002 for the Rye Pale Ale, created a demand that has propelled the company forward. This year alone they had a 39% increase in volume. “It was a tough road at first. We had contract breweries, hop shortages, more license applications than I care to remember, but the pay off has been worth it” said Cochran, “The people of Athens have been so supportive. They’ve really welcomed us with open arms.”
Terrapin Beer Co.has a portfolio of four year round beers, four seasonal high gravity beers and a reputation for pushing the boundaries of creative brewing. Regularly scheduled tours of the Terrapin Brewery are offered every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night from 5:30 – 7:30 with live music and tastings. The brewery is located at 265 Newton Bridge Road in Athens, GA. The tours are an excellent opportunity to taste Terrapin’s full line of award winning beers and see the brewing process first hand.
