New York City’s First Mendoza Crush Fest
City Winery, New York City’s first and reportedly only wine-making facility, will join forces with Algodon Wine Estates, a wine and golf estate in Argentina, for a wine-crushing event.
AWE is currently shipping six tons of Malbec and Bonarda grapes from its vineyards in Mendoza to New York to be crushed and made into wine. To celebrate the event, CW will be producing the first annual Mendoza Crush Fest on April 26. In addition to the crushing of the grapes, the day will include a traditional Argentine asado (barbecue), a live tango performance and a selection of more than 30 different wines from Argentina (provided by Wines of Argentina), in addition to wine from AWE .
The event will take place at City Winery, 155 Varick Street, New York, from 3 to 10 p.m. Wine will be crushed intermittently throughout the day, and the cost per person is $35.
